Day 13 - OctPoWriMo 2013: Gotta P

 Today's prompt:
Pick a letter in the alphabet and go through (a dictionary or other source); choose all the words that stand out that start with that letter.  Then, put the words together, adding any words necessary (but as little as possible) and create a poem.

Gotta “P”
Patrol the party
Perceive the phenomenon
Predict, project, play
Prance with poise
Pull a prank
pinch  posteriors
But, please.
Suppress the impulse   to
pummel the pony
poison the parrot     or
piss on the pragmatist

  1. "piss on the pragmatist" LOL Poetic perfection!

  2. Funny ending. Oh no, am I at risk for being a parrot OR a pragmatist? Love the fun with this play on poetics. Perfect! :)

  3. The rhythm of this was wonderful...especially the last three lines. I do wonder if "pummel the pony" is a euphemism for something (not sure I want to know what) and the last line re: the pragmatist made me laugh. Thank you.

  4. Thank you, Anna. No euphemism in mind when I wrote that line. It is, though, in line with the tone of the rest of the poem. But, isn't that the magic of poetry, that a reader can infer and create her/his own images and meaning.

And now when I think about it, the words just fit at the time, but the image that comes to my mind now is similar to the saying "beating a dead horse". Interesting.

You always make me think, Anna. Thank you. xoA
