Today's prompt called for an Epitaph Poem. An epitaph poem is a tasteful summarization of the life of a person.
Epitaph for a Teacher
Here lies a teacher
Beloved and true
She did her best
Touching all she knew
She taught us English
History, math
Lead us on a
Righteous path
Of learning
And becoming more
Outgrowing ourselves
As we were before
So watch out, world
This is your cue
Hearts full, heads up
We’re comin’ through
Thanks to teachers
For a life of giving
Their inspiration
Keeps us living

When the student is ready, the teacher appears! I appreciate the warmth of this poem for it brings back memories of students in my classes, their joy, energy and commitment to learning.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beth. So true -- my best teachers have come when I was finally ready. Thanks for commenting. xoA
DeleteWe sure would be a sadder world without teachers. I've had mostly good ones in my time.
ReplyDeleteGlad to know you've had mostly positive experiences, Yeris. Thanks for writing. xoA
