Today’s prompt called for rhyming verse. I'm out of my element, but here’s
my attempt.
The Fighter
Intense, passionate friend
On her, we could depend
To stand up
Never shut up
To take on fights
Defend others’ rights
Fervent about her cause
Current with the laws
Time after time
She put herself on the line
A pacifist, protesting against
war
Her spirit lives forevermore.
Your poem left me wondering whose courage the poem celebrates! I really liked how the poem begins with one premise (the warrior) and takes us to another place (peace). And that ending rhyme of 'against war/forevermore' echoes beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Beth. I really didn't know where this was going to go when I started. But, that's the way of writing, isn't it? Appreciate your comments. xoA
ReplyDeleteA wonderful tribute to...whoever it is. :-) The rhyme worked well and it had a good rhythm.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anna. I was hoping the rhyme didn't sound 'fakey'. xoA
