Day 5 – OctPoWriMo 2017: Revelation

Today's theme: Finally I Understand

Revelation

It took the birth
Of my first child
Her weight in my arms
Before I understood

Before I understood
The depth of my parents’ love
Before I understood
Their profound sacrifices

Their profound sacrifices
So I might thrive
Grow into the woman
They hoped I'd become

  1. Hi Annis, lovely poem. It is the way of things, we often don't understand until we live through it ourselves. Well done.

    Peace,
    Morgan

  3. Lovely poem. I like how the last line ties with the next first line - it ushers you through the thread nicely.

    1. Thank you, Jenni. I am a fan of repetition; just don't always think to do it. Appreciate your comment. xoA
