Day 7 OctPoWriMo 2017: If You Know What's Good for You

Today’s Theme:  And then I went too far

If You Know What’s Good for You
(A 4-Haiku story)

Back-pedaling now
Your sole response to my eyes,
Widened by your spew

But words can’t undo
My lurching, pretzeled stomach
The anger in my brain

Best course? Walk away
Let the cortisol subside
Get out of my reach

If you know what’s good
for you, run while I count slow.
One, Missisippi ...

  1. I love haiku, and I love writing extended haiku. This is awesome. Great job on the poem and the prompt. :-)

  2. "Pretzeled stomach" - perfect imagery to describe how it makes us feel at times. Lovely set of haiku, Annis. <3

  3. This brought a smile to my lips.
I hope that I'll feel as powerful next time the ex tries to throw me a curve ball!
Thank you for both the smile and the lesson in self-confidence.
