Today's OctPoWriMo prompt was to write a poem that has to do with being gentle with yourself.
Self Talk
Inner dialogue,
gentled tone
Calming
Loving
I am less alone
Inner dialogue,
tender, kind
Soothing
Comforting
I don’t lose my mind
Inner dialogue, words
guide
Instructing
Encouraging
I am on my own side
The brilliance of this piece lay in its simplicity. Good words to meditate on, invoking the self within the self.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouraging words. And, how kind of you to comment. xoA
DeleteWonderful composition and a wonderful statement... "I'm on my own side". :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much. Many years ago there was a popular book out "Be Your Own Best Friend". I think I was channeling that. xoA
DeleteA nicely meditative poem that brings a sense of confidence and peace and acceptance. How good it would be if we all had such inner voices to guide us. As your poem suggests, we start by loving ourselves. Your portrait carries out the poem perfectly.

Deletenice rhythmic poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I rarely go for a rhyming structure, but decided to try it on this one. xoA

ReplyDeleteThank you, Morgan. xoA
DeleteLove this one Annis. It really spoke to me, as when we talk to ourselves we are not alone, no matter what we go through.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem.
Thanks, Joan. We can survive anything, especially with the right self talk. xoA
