Day 4 - OctPoWriMo 2013: Self Talk

Today's OctPoWriMo prompt was to write a poem that has to do with being gentle with yourself.

 Self Talk

Inner dialogue, gentled tone
Calming
Loving
I am less alone

Inner dialogue, tender, kind
Soothing
Comforting
I don’t lose my mind

Inner dialogue, words guide
Instructing
Encouraging
I am on my own side

  1. The brilliance of this piece lay in its simplicity. Good words to meditate on, invoking the self within the self.

    1. Thanks so much. Many years ago there was a popular book out "Be Your Own Best Friend". I think I was channeling that. xoA

  3. A nicely meditative poem that brings a sense of confidence and peace and acceptance. How good it would be if we all had such inner voices to guide us. As your poem suggests, we start by loving ourselves. Your portrait carries out the poem perfectly.

  6. Love this one Annis. It really spoke to me, as when we talk to ourselves we are not alone, no matter what we go through.

    Beautiful poem.

    1. Aavika, thank you. Yes, self talk has huge power. Sadly, for so many of us, it's too often negative self talk, which brings us down. I'm glad yours has soothed you. Thanks for writing. xoA
